Umgeni River canalisation
The following is a Notice that appears on Riverside Road in respect of canalisation of the uMngeni, north bank, for a stretch of 1 km, from the location of the Islamic graveyard at NCP Alcohols, under Connaught Bridge, to just beyond the garden refuse site near the market area opposite the Umgeni River Bird Park.  The final page of the document available at the website link below displays a map clearly indicating the proposed canalisation.


A public meeting will be held on the 12th December 2012 @ 17h30 at the City Engineers Department, City EngineersBuilding, in the meeting room above the 6th Floor, 166 K E Masinga Road ( previously Old Fort Road), Durban

Entrance is via Archie Gumede Road (previously Old Fort Place), through the boom gates.



GIBB (Pty) Ltd (GIBB) has been commissioned by the eThekwini Municipality (Coastal, Stormwater &Catchment Management) to conduct an application for environmental authorization in the form of a Basic Assessment for the proposed widening and canalization of a section of the Umgeni River.


The draft Basic Assessment Report (dBAR) is complete and is available for public review at the GIBB offices in IBM House, 2nd Floor, 54 Norfolk Terrace, Westville 3630 and Durban North Library.
